How Thoughtlessness Leads To Creativity Explains Life Coach

This is a very counterintuitive title. But then creativity is counterintuitive in some respects.

The general belief is that to be creative, one needs to have creative thoughts. Subconsciously, we believe that we need more thoughts to get that one creative thought.

I have some students who started meditating but then stopped after a while, because they got afraid of the quiet mind they experienced after the meditation. They thought, ‘What if my mind stopped working?’

Only if one could continue any type of meditative practice for at least a full lunar cycle could one see that their thought process has become more refined due to meditative practices.

For those of you who are new to this website, I am Sahil Kumar Nagpal, Author & Life Coach in India, and I work with C-Suite Executives all over the world.

What Is Thoughtlessness?

There are 4 types of brain waves famously known as: Beta, Alpha, Theta & Delta. Our mind radiates a certain frequency in Hz. Beta: 30-15, Alpha: 14-9, Theta: 4-8, Delta: 3-1.

Famously, these different waves are related to different awasthas, explained in different yogic texts, namely Jagaran, Swapna, Susupti, Turiya.

When a person is not having a single thought, it is a thoughtless state of mind. For an average person this happens in deep sleep and for adept meditators it happens in deeper states of meditation.

When Do We Experience Thoughtless State?

Theoretically, when a person is not having any thoughts, he or she is said to be in turiya state. Practically, it does not happen often in an average person’s life.

An individual who is adept at meditation can get to those stages with immense preparation. However, everyone, almost on a daily basis, goes to a deep-sleep state.

Why Should We Try To Become Thoughtless?

You may have observed that if you are well rested, you are very energetic and have creative thoughts, and vice versa. If you develop this ability to deliberately go into a thoughtless state of mind, even for a second, you can then arrive at a state of creativity.

It is the reason why many creative artists go to a preparatory mode before starting any type of creative task. Painters, sculptors, and martial artists all have their own rituals that lead them to a thoughtless state of mind.

This further empowers them to create something new and unique. I have shared a story in the article below that describes the different stages of creativity, do check it out.

Can Meditation Help?

One can easily be creative if he or she is well rested, as in deep sleep, we often go into a thoughtless state of mind. However, it is not possible to enjoy deep sleep always.

So certain meditative processes can help you consciously go into that state. Just a couple of seconds are more than enough.

But not just any meditation. There many meditative practices. Only certain meditative practices can help you get there.

How Can I Learn?

You can go to spiritual schools where they teach meditation. You can also learn it from a trained hypnotist.

I, in my life coaching sessions, teach people how to tap into deeper states and how to bring out the hidden and untapped potential they have within them.

Soon, we will be launching basic courses on different topics. To know more about the life coaching sessions, feel free to connect.
