Is There Any Role Of Meditation In Life Coaching In India?

Life Coaching is an upcoming and booming field worldwide, especially in India. It is a very effective process in re-designing your life. Meditation is a very effective tool to unleash your true human potential. But do we really need meditation in the life coaching process?

You may have seen many people using the title as meditation coach. Many of us think meditation is a very basic and easy process. Some of us believe; to meditate, you sit and close your eyes. But it is not that simple.

In this article, I Life Coach Sahil Kumar Nagpal based in India will uncover how meditation can boost the process of life coaching.

Understanding Meditation

Meditation comes from the word meditari. It literally means to talk about something or give attention to something. Most of the meditations practiced all over the world have an essence of eastern wisdom, especially Indian subcontinent.

There are many different types of meditation like breath-watching meditation, trataka, guided meditation, trance, etc. Many of them are completely different from each other but the end goal is mostly the same.

What Is The End Goal Of Meditation?

As a researcher and spiritual coach in India, I have studied various ancient scripts of yoga, tantra, Vedanta, etc. I also have an understanding of many modern science disciplines.

To understand the end goal of meditation we need to understand 5 states of mind. According to Bhashaya (commentary by Ved Vyasa) on Yoga Sutra, there are 5 states of mind. I have covered this in 4th chapter of my book Life The Way You Design | Part 1 – The Designer in detail. Here I will give some basic glimpse of these states of mind.

  • Muddha: Dull state of mind
  • Kshipta: Restless state of mind
  • Vikshipta: Distracted state of mind
  • Ekagra: Focused state of mind
  • Nirudha: Transcendental state of mind

Most of us stay in the lower states of mind that are Muddha, Kshipta & Vikshipta. The end goal of any meditation or spiritual process is to go to Ekagra or Nirudha state of mind.

What Is The End Goal Of Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is the process of self-development. It is a process of overcoming challenges in life and achieving specific goals. To be honest with you, you don’t need to meditate to achieve your goals & overcome challenges.

However, let me explain one fundamental aspect. An individual is always in two states of mind. If the person is in lower states of mind during the day, that is either in muddha & kshipta or kshipta & vikshipta, the efficiency of the person in daily life will be very low. If the person manages to stay in higher states of mind, that is Vikshipta & Ekagra (Staying in ekagra & nirudha state of mind is very advance process) state of mind most of the time, than the person’s efficiency in daily life will be much more.

Meditation raises you to higher states of mind. It helps you develop a different perspective. It also helps you to channelize your stress and use it as a creative force.

Will Meditation Help In Life Coaching?

So, in my opinion, meditating daily will definitely help in your self-development journey. Now understand that meditation itself is a very wide subject. So wide, that I can almost write a fat book on it.

Meditation is definitely good but there are many advanced meditation processes. Such meditations can boost your confidence by 90%. There are meditations that can help you attract your goals in your life. There are processes that can unveil the true hidden leader inside you.

I have trained many leaders in my executive coaching workshops organized in India. In my one to one life coaching programs too, depending upon the individual and situation I teach many such powerful processes. Processes that are proven by modern studies and that holds the wisdom of many masters of the past.
