This is very common in students that they tend to get anxious when exams are very close. It is also very common for students to get extreme anxiety or panic attack during a surprise test.

Many students also feel such anxiety during regular exams especially when they encounter a question that they don’t have answer to. At such moments heartbeat becomes fast, body start to perspire and mind goes blank. After this, the question that you know the answer to also becomes difficult to address.

TIP 1: BREATHE & MEDITATE

Every day before you start studying, sit with your back & neck straight. Take couple of deep breaths as slowly as you can. Then for next couple of minutes simply observe your breath. This process will channelize your stress hormones.

By regularly doing this activity properly you will notice that you are now much more relaxed and your focus level has increased. It will also enhance your memory power.

TIP 2: AVOID SPICY & FRIED FOOD

According to latest research our gut is in direct connection with our brain’s performance levels. What quality of food we are having on daily basis will determine which state of mind we will be in. Whether we will have distracted state of mind or if we will have one pointed state of mind is determined by the type of food we have.

So avoid all the food items that are heavy on your system. Especially those food items that are extremely spicy and are deep fried.

TIP 3: INCLUDE FRUITS & NUTS

As a student it is highly recommended to have a moderate diet which is not too heavy on the system and also which is nutritious. Fruits & nuts are very good source of good quality of energy, micronutrients and macronutrients.

TIP 4: TAKE ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF SLEEP

An average human being can only survive for up to 1 week without sleep. Sleep is very important for survival. But it is not only important for the mere survival but also for the quality of survival. In other words, it is a determining factor in our learning abilities and daily performance.

So take adequate amount of sleep, not more nor less. In order to do this make sure you sleep on time and wake up on time. Make sure you do not access any electronic gadgets 1 hour before going to sleep and 1 hour after waking up. This will improve the quality of your sleep and overall brain performance.

TIP 5: MEDITATE BEFORE EXAM STARTS

Before exam starts meditate for couple of minutes. Just sit with your back & neck straight and simply focus on your breath. Observe all the thoughts that come & go through your mind. This process will calm your mind down and will prepare you for the exam.
