7 Daily Habits For Burnout Recovery Recommended By Life Coach In India

As a life coach, I have worked with many high performers and leaders, and a very common problem one can face these days is burnout.  Just imagine you have worked very hard to reach your goal, and just when it is about to get accomplished, you are so dead tired that you cannot take the next step.

In my 17 years of life coaching experience, I have observed that there are various stages of burnout. But the common burnout that most people know is occupational burnout. In mostly all of the cases the person is not working with a life coach and faces such lifestyle-related challenges. This is caused because of workplace stress, one can identify certain symptoms of burnout:

  • Feeling isolated
  • Not able to bring focus on the work
  • Feeling of quitting & running away
  • Continuous depressive thoughts
  • Feeling exhausted all the time
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Short temper
  • No-time for personal matters

A standup comedian cracked a wonderful joke on Indian workplace system. He said that if you have a European HR and you ask for a sick leave you will be easily granted along with get-well-soon greetings. But if the HR is Indian and you say you have cancer, he will reply, I have too, come to the office.

This was a joke, but it is not a secret that work-culture is getting stressful day by day in many countries. Many of you may be working for some organization and many of you may be running your own business, but you have to understand one thing: as long as your body & mind are fit you can achieve your goals, if you over-work them it will take you 10 steps back.

In this article, I Sahil Kumar Nagpal, Spiritual Life Coach in India and author of bestselling book series, Life The Way You Design, will share with you some habits that can help you recover from a burnout.

1) Take A Break For Holistic Wellness

Burnout occurs when your mind is constantly following a particular pattern. Every now and then, our mind wants something new, something different. When, because of our busy schedule, we don’t change the pattern, the mind revolts.

Take at least a 72-hour break. During the break, you should keep your phones, laptops, and anything digital away. Best would be that you stay unconnected with your office. It is important that you don’t talk about work, otherwise it won’t make much difference.

2) Take Half Days For Better Life

If a 72-hour break is not possible, take half-day leave for a couple of days or once a week.

3) Join A Spiritual Retreat

There are so many spiritual retreats. You can choose anyone that suits you. Such spiritual retreats are designed to give you a perspective on your life. As you finish the retreats, you will feel a lot better and enthusiastic.

4) Change Your Diet

Food has a direct impact on the mind. The type of food you eat will determine your efficiency in handling stress and challenges in life.

If possible, consult a yoga teacher, nutritionist, or an ayurvedic consultant. The diet change will have an immediate effect on your state of mind. Keep in mind to keep the diet in small portions. The food items you include in your diet should be easy on your digestion.

5) Breathe Oxygen

Everybody breathes oxygen, but what I mean by this is breathe pure oxygen. The best way to do this is to go to a natural place where there is minimal pollution.

People in India often visit hill stations, but sometimes it is so crowded that the air over there is as polluted as in the cities. Make sure that you go to a natural place that is untainted.
