As a student of life, one thing I have learned is that preplanning can make a lot of things easier. To be successful is a different thing and to be effectively successful is a completely different thing.
There are many people you will find successful in life, but many of them pay a very high price for so-called success. Being successful in different sectors of life is essential but it is also important that in pursuit of success we don’t disturb the balance of our life.
By pre-planning, we can, in a way foresee future events. We can project our energy in the right direction so that we may not make mistakes. In this article, I Sahil Kumar Nagpal, life coach and author based in India, is sharing certain things that we should plan on a daily basis.
1) Food
A very important but very ignored aspect is diet. Many of us tend to not think about what we will eat today. Some of us generally decide at the last moment what we will eat and we order. Many of us eat whatever we get from home.
In general, we never give a thought on what we are eating. If at all we give a thought, we give it from a taste perspective. Based on what we crave at the moment, we decide what we will eat. This is not a good way to live a life.
Understand that diet plays a very crucial role in our performance, irrespective of the work we do. Whether your work requires a lot of physical effort or if your work requires a lot of mental effort, you must consciously plan your diet.
Preplanning your diet on a weekly basis will take away your decision making from your taste buds and you can plan a diet that will boost your performance based on your work.
Your diet must be based on your work. You can consult a good life coach or an expert dietician for this. However, I have written a very good article that is useful for all the people. You can check out below.
2) Attire
Your dressing is something that people notice, consciously or subconsciously. If you want something you have to become someone who deserves that something. If you want to become a shrewd businessman or businesswoman, you must dress as such. If you want to become a great artist, you must dress as such.
Your appearance can either be something that you put on based on your mood or it can be something that tells about what you do in your life and how efficiently you do.
Preplan what you will wear tomorrow based on what work you are doing tomorrow. Let’s say you are meeting an important client, make sure you dress your best. Whether you crack the deal or not, but you must look like you deserve the work. This will create a different aura that will bring more work to you.
3) Tasks
To do list, a very famous term. Especially if you are into self-development. Although many people already know about this, but many people don’t understand how to do it.
A lot of us have a to-do-list, but are we using it efficiently? A to-do-list is a list to keep us in track of our work. However, at times it becomes a dump list rather than a task list. A list where we dump things that we procrastinate.
There are some essential points to keep in mind while using a to-do-list:
- Keep a priority section in the list.
- Never keep a task for more than 3 days in a priority section, either do it or shift it in the common section.
- Never keep a task for more than 3 months in your entire list.
- Consciously put tasks in, don’t just dump in whatever comes to mind.
- Try to follow you daily task list.
4) Exercise
Some of you might say, oh I don’t workout. If you don’t it is a good time to start. Not necessarily you have to join a gym, you can choose any physical activity that suits you. It can be a walk, dance, jogging, sports, anything.
The important thing is that you develop a habit of doing your exercise daily. But also, plan what you will do the next day. Ideally, it should depend upon your objectives. What are your objectives in terms of fitness, but most importantly the objectives must also be in sync with the work you are doing.
Many of us tend to ignore this sync. For example, you are an aspiring leader and your objective is to build a physique like that of a bodybuilding champion. It is a personal choice but to be honest, here the fitness objectives will not compliment your career goals.
As a leader, your choice of physical activity must be such that keeps your mind active and alert. As a leader you may have to think and analyze a lot, you may have to handle a lot of pressure, you may have to wake for hours and simultaneously keep your mind sharp. If you are practicing bodybuilding like a champion, you will need a lot of rest, you will have to take breaks for your meals, and you will have to take out time to take care of your body.
It won’t suit a leader. So, it is important to make sure that your workout complements your life goals and also it must complement your daily activities.
For example, you did a lot of work today, so instead of going to play badminton, you can choose to go for a mild walk. Preplan your workouts and listen to your body.
5) Meditations
There are many types of meditation. If you are into self-development or a seasoned leader you know that there are different meditations. Each meditation has a different impact.
A warrior will meditate differently, a saint will meditate differently, and an artist will meditate differently. Ideally, we should meditate based on who we are. You cannot do a sadhana of a hermit if you are living in society.
Choosing the right guided meditations will help you perform well in your life and also help you grow spiritually. You can soon choose some guided meditations from our site and Android app.
6) People You Meet
There is a very famous saying in the world of self-development, that is: You are an average of 5 people you meet every day.’ In Hindi there is a very famous saying, ‘Jaisa sang waisa rang.’ We are influenced by the people we meet especially on a daily basis.
Depending upon your objectives, you should plan who to meet and how much time to invest on a daily and weekly basis.
7) Books & Videos
This goes without saying. We all access YouTube and other social media platforms but how much of our content consumption is a conscious choice. Imagine the number of hours we have spent in the last year alone.
Think about a number of hours you access social media in a day. Now calculate how many hours you utilized last year in social media. Imagine if only of these many hours you invested in a specific subject or field, what a mountain of knowledge you would have gained. Think about how much that knowledge would have helped you grow in your career.
Just imagine if you do this for next year, how different your life can be in a year, in a decade.
